Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Information for Parents
Thank you for your interest in Florida's FREE VPK program. There are no income requirements to participate.
VPK is a program aimed at giving your four year old the tools necessary to enter kindergarten eager and ready to learn.

How do I sign my child up for a VPK program?
Your child will need a Certificate of Eligibility to attend a VPK program.
How do I get a Certificate of Eligibility?
Families can obtain the certificate at three times:
- Here is a list of all scheduled round ups.
- During an appointment. Make an appointment at our Sanford office by calling 407.532-4422
- Walk in to our Sanford office. Walk in hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 8:30am - 3:30pm.
To receive a certificate, you must provide the following documents. You are encouraged to bring photocopies along with the original documents; this will reduce your wait time.
- A completed VPK application, signed by the parent/guardian with whom the child resides. These will be provided when you meet with our VPK staff. However, you can reduce your wait time by downloading the Child VPK Application and completing it ahead of time.
- Proof of Florida residency for the parent/guardian with whom
the child resides. Residency can be proven with:
- a Florida driver's license,
- a utility bill, or
- a lease or deed.
- Proof of the child's date of birth. Date of birth can be proven with:
- a birth certificate,
- a passport, or
- a military ID.
- The child's Social Security Card. This is NOT required, but is appreciated.
Who offers VPK programs?
Providers include a mix of private child care centers, family child care homes, faith based centers and public schools. Each provider determines the days and times of VPK services will be offered as well as whether full day care is available to parents who wish to pay for those services.

Can I get my child into the Fall 2007-2008 VPK Program?
The Fall 2007-2008 Program is available to all children who will be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2007 (birth date range 9/2/02 - 9/1/03) and are eligible to enter kindergarten in the Fall of 2008.
We are currently issuing certificates for the 540 hour Fall program.
The Coalition provides a parents with a Master Provider Profile when they are issued a certificate. This profile includes a listing of providers for Fall 2007-2008.
